U.S. Soldiers: Some Serving Two Masters

Unfortunately, some of America’s soldiers believe they are on a mission from god/dog to spread the word about their religion. In the video, we see a few soldiers receiving bibles which are to be given to Afghanistan’s people in the hopes of converting them to Evangelical Christianity.
As a veteran, it sickens me to see the abusive nature of the Evangelical church and their attacks against the separation of church and state. Bush is largely to blame for this behavior because he described our mission in the Middle East as a “crusade” and constantly talked about how his relationship with god/dog was directing his actions in the region. What’s worse, and would be funny if it wasn’t for so many casualties, is that Evangelicals and other Christian denomination believers have been duped into pushing and supporting actions in the Middle East because of Bush’s statements, while in actuality the only reason we are there is to take over the many oil deposits and pipelines within the region.
Hopefully, the military chaplins will be held responsilbe and court martialed. I doubt it’s going to happen though.

1I never did get the part they didn’t understand about “love your enemies” and ‘do unto others….” and “thou shalt not kill/murder”. But you know, I guess they are trying to tell us that Jesus approves of it all, just like Bush claimed God agreed with him taking us to war. Maybe God didn’t have his all knowing powers on to know that Bush lied to go to war? It is interesting that Allah was the reason or justification for 9/11 and Bush made Christ his justification. Now we have the Christians and Muslims killing each other and dragging the rest of us into the mess. Seems religion never really does bring peace.

The translated Bibles appear to be the New Testament. According to Al Jazeera, US soldiers “had them specially printed and shipped to Afghanistan.” On the tape, one soldier describes how his church in the US helped raise money for the bibles. Al Jazeera reports that “What these soldiers have been doing may well be in direct violation of the US Constitution, their professional codes and the regulations in place for all forces in Afghanistan.” The US military officially forbids “proselytising of any religion, faith or practice.” But, as Al Jazeera reports:
